Our life depends largely on the organs and matters lying inside our bodies, the different systems, processes and operations that are taking place inside of us are what really make us alive. As we all know, humans, animals and insect are consisted of whole lot of liquid streaming in our veins and nerves so that the other systems could perform their functions accordingly. The most vital liquid inside our body is the blood, for it is the what’s responsible for distributing oxygen to the other portions of the body where it is needed. We all know its importance but little has been said about the biology if blood particularly its components.
Blood’s life
More than the fact that it is something that bursts from our wounds, it has a more significant function in our body which causes us to be alive. According to most definitions from encyclopedias, the blood is an extremely specialized flowing tissue which is composed of various classes of cells that are held in a fluid channel known as the plasma.
Its components include the red blood cells or the erythrocytes which function to diffuse respiratory gases and is the very reason why the color of our blood is red, because it has hemoglobin. Next are the white blood cells or the leukocytes which combat the diseases that may take place inside our bodies. The last one is the platelets or the thrombocytes, the main function of these as a cell fragment is to assist in the clotting of our blood, which we usually notice when we get wounded.
Operations of the blood
To be informed of the life that blood has, we should be familiarized with its main functions in our body. Its main function is to provide oxygen to tissues all over our body; this oxygen is contained in the hemoglobin which is situated inside the red blood cells. Next function is that, it needs to supply nutrients that are known to be dissolved in our blood; some of these nutrients are amino acids, fatty acids and glucose.
Aside from being provider, the blood also removes waste inside our body by the form of lactic acid, urea and carbon dioxide. Immunological operations are also engaged in by the blood as it helps circulate the white cells and assists in the discovery of foreign materials inside our body with the help of the antibodies. Coagulation is also the role of blood which helps in the repairing of our own body to itself.
Other than combating alien materials, the blood also functions as a messenger for it is the one accountable for the conveyance of the hormones and the indication of possible tissue damage inside our body. Moreover, it also regulates our body’s pH level and our body’s temperature.
Our blood is sent out all over our body through our lungs by the pumping of our hearts. Though aside from the pumping, the blood’s circulation was also attributed to the gravity and the skeletal movement of our muscles.
Blood physiology
Blood cells are created in the bone marrow of every organism b y means of the process known as hematopoiesis. The protienacious content of the bone marrow which also includes the clotting proteins that enables the blood to clot is generated in our livers. Since the blood is also responsible for performing hydraulic functions, the restriction of the blood flow would result to the erection of some tissues inside our body.
The color of the blood is only possible for organisms which have hemoglobin in their systems; the color has been rooted to the oxygenated iron which is composed of hemoglobin that is present in our red blood cells. For the ones who have deoxygenated blood the probable color of their blood is a darker hue of red.
Blood and health
In the ancient times people believe that having excess blood in ones body could cause them to acquire a disease that is why they perform bloodletting activities and leeching so as to take action for their belief. But now, the diagnostic examinations for ailments in our blood include blood tests and blood pressure.
In the aspect of pathology wounds are generally the most severe reason for blood loss. If you have less thrombocytes in your body then chances are your blood won’t coagulate therefore causing the wound not to be repaired which in turn may cause the continuous loss of blood. With the advent of the modern times, also came modern diseases which could only be resolved by blood transfusion, but to assure the safety of this activity it is best to be learned on the biology of blood.
